Miscellaneous Bites: November 29, 2018
Quick one: Stitcher has apparently struck up a partnership with Seinnheiser in which the latter decks out the former's studios in New York and Los Angeles with equipment. Sweet situation, I suppose. Miscellaneous. Two fun things, not directly podcast related: Emerson Collective, the social impact firm founded by Laurene Powell Jobs, is acquiring Pop-Up Magazine, the "live magazine" company. As Recode notes: "Emerson has made an increasing number of media investments via its for-profit arm over the last two years, including buying a majority stake in Atlantic magazine, as well as large stakes in several Hollywood production companies like Concordia Studio, Anonymous Content and Macro." Something else that Emerson has also invested in: Gimlet Media. I loved this piece by Jerry Saltz, New York Magazine's art critic: "How to be an Artist." Do pair it with Saltz's interview on Longform, from a few weeks ago.
